Anatomy and the hotness of Brains

Health information has been a long standing source of strife within feminist communities partially because due to each of our places in society, and personal desires, &frequently our unwillingness to admit our own privileges where there exist. We have different needs and addressing our needs is always a deeply personal and political act.  The erotic is a resource within each of us that lies in a deeply female and spiritual plane, firmly rooted in the power of our unexpressed or unrecognized feeling. In order to perpetuate itself, every oppression must corrupt or distort those various sources of power within the culture of the oppressed that can provide energy for change. For women, this has meant a suppression of the erotic as a considered source of power and information within our lives.”  We have been taught to suspect this resource, vilified, abused, and devalued within western society. On the one hand, the superficially erotic has been encouraged as a sign of female inferiority; on the other hand, women have been made to suffer and to feel both contemptible and suspect by virtue of its existence.”- Audre Lorde  Sexual pleasure has always been one of these needs which most desperately desires addressing. So many of us grew up without really understanding how our own bodies work. For those of us who didn't get a good sex ed class here are several excellent resources.

Mostly people with penises got covered better in our classes back in school, largely because medical science has been treating white cis men as the baseline since  until sometime in the mid 1980's when they "discovered" that the sex organs aren't the only  processes that work differently.

For example women typically have different heart attacks symptoms, different stress symptoms, and different common health issues. African Americans typically have higher cancer and heart disease rates. The difficulty is in figuring to reduce the systemic inequality that causes much of this and how to identify genuine heritable issues so we can treat them early. That said, how are you supposed to really feel whole or really understand yourself if you don't know your own body? How can you enjoy your body as a whole?  How can you tell another person what you  like?  Mostly what they missed for you guys is covered in the 'for everybody section' but that said please pick up a copy of Anal Pleasure and Health by Jack Morin and Down There press and then look aroun Scarleteen for a refresher if needed...It's good fun.
